The St. Patrick's Parade is a fun event for all ages that brings bellow of bagpipes, and the laughter of children to the UAD. Each year dozens of businesses and organizations march in the parade.

Before the parade, many businesses offer fun activities for children such a face painting, hair dying, etc. There is also a "polar plunge" into Lake Michigan in the morning. 

After the event, local restaurants and bars host a shuttle bus that allows adults to jump from bar to bar throughout the city to enjoy camaraderie.

The First Friday Art Walk Summer Series is a monthly event hosted by the Michigan City Mainstreet Association during the months of May through September. The event features existing live performances and other happenings along Franklin Street in the UAD. The event is coupled with the longstanding First Friday Art Walk which is a multi-venue happening that occurs on the first Friday of every month from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. where local, uptown businesses open their doors to the public and host artists and their work. The Summer Series event adds to the First Friday Art Walk by brining fresh, new programming to the UAD monthly.

The Swale Music Festival is an all-ages event hosted by the Michigan City Mainstreet Association that is held in Wescott Park in the UAD. The event features nine whole hours of live local music with over 25 performances, fusing a variety of musical skills & genres. This ain't about playing it safe. This ain't about easy-listening. This event brings you to the edge of what live music can be.

People 21-and-over can sample a motley selection of local craft brews there are local food food vendors to keep you from getting hangry.

The Taste of Michigan City is an annual event created and hosted by the Michigan City Mainstreet Association. It brings dozens of local restaurants to the Uptown Arts District giving people an opportunity to sample the many exciting varieties available in and around Michigan City. The event also brings in many musical acts and we host a beer garden that features several local breweries and wineries.

The Great Lakes Grand Prix is an annual high speed boat race hosted by the LaPorte County Visitor's Bureau. The event features some of the world’s fastest and most powerful offshore power boats. Patrons can walk through Washington Park and chat with racers, team members, boat and jet ski owners over the 3 days leading up to the race on Sunday. The event also features live entertainment, food, and drinks.

The Flame + Flair Halloween Festival hosted by the Michigan City Mainstreet Association is an annual festive Halloween event held on Franklin Street in the Uptown Arts District. The event includes a Thriller Dance that is performed by the local youth, trick-or-treating at the all of the downtown businesses, a haunted/themed house at Artspace Uptown Artist Lofts, and a fire dancing performance to close out the night.
